Central Middle School and Arroyo School
San Carlos | California
This project consists of an innovative new two-story state-of-the-art classroom building at Central Middle School to serve grades 6-8, and the remodel of the existing Central Middle School into a grades 4-5 Arroyo School.
This classroom building is designed to support Central Middle School’s innovative 21st Century Learning philosophy. Classrooms are arranged in pairs with shared break-out spaces and operable partitions to create learning suites. These learning suites are connected to two large indoor learning commons which provide flexible space for a wide variety of learning activities. The building also includes spaces for science and arts instruction and a Tinker Lab and makerspace specifically designed to support project-based learning and maker education.
