Dominus Estate Winery
Yountville | California
Spanning 42,000 square feet, this winery is made of pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete and steel with gabion walls. It was designed to work within the natural landscape with its long, low rock facade blending beautifully with the vineyard and surrounding hills. The linear plan was created to work with the development of the wine making process from picked fruit to bottled wine. The structure was designed by award-winning Swiss architects, Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron. The project received TIME Magazine’s 1998 Best of Design award and was featured in Architecture Magazine.
