Oakland Unified School District: King Estates Middle School Buildings 4, 5, and 6
Oakland | California
Following ZFA’s review of all school buildings within the Oakland Unified School District, five seismically vulnerable buildings were identified that qualified for state hardship funding and were selected for seismic retrofit. The Oakland King Estates Middle School Buildings 4, 5, and 6 were evaluated and retrofitted to DSA requirements to improve the seismic performance of the buildings to a level equivalent with current, new building standards. ZFA provided services to complete this retrofit project including the following: Development of Retrofit Scope; Tier 2 Seismic Evaluation; Complete design and detailing of structural components; Prepared closeout paperwork upon approval from DSA; Performed the detailed cost estimate and worked directly with OPSC to secure Proposition 1D funding for this project ($2,206,619 received by the District).
