is 23 acres and the structure consists of a three-story office
building that houses Pittsburg City Hall, Administrative Offices,
and the Police Facility. Part of the Police Facility is a one-story
structure constructed of CMU and seismically separated from the
three-story main building. Also on the premises are the bulk of

COUNTY MAIN ADULT DETENTION FACILITY

220,000 square
foot jail facility and separate courtroom building built in
two phases on a "fast track" schedule. Four story
housing buildings were designed to provide security and allow for
programs and services with minimally escorted movements of inmates.
Large outdoor recreation areas are extensions of the dayrooms with
16-foot high vertical walls at the perimeter.

FIRE STATION NO. 37

Fairfield Fire Station Number 37
is a 19,189 square foot multi-use facility that opened last month
in Fairfield, California. The three-building fire station includes
an open floor plan administration building, apparatus bay, and
a two-story dormitory. The dormitory is highlighted by a second
floor exterior deck supported by a single cantilevered column
and steel braced frames resisting earthquake loads where the code
limits of wood construction are exceeded. The distinguishing 35'
tall double-gabled apparatus bay roof is supported by a three-dimensional,
high-tension stainless steel cable truss system that maximizes
the volume of the structure. Steel moment frames provide earthquake
resistance at the apparatus bay door elevations.

AMERICAN
CANYON AQUATIC COMMUNITY CENTER
Napa, CA
The Napa
Unified School District entered into a joint-use agreement with
the newly formed city of American Canyon to locate a new community
& civic center facility adjacent to the American Canyon Middle
School. The facility provides a gymnasium with a stage, locker
rooms and coaches spaces, a 25 yard six lane pool with a wading
pool, changing facilities, showers and a concession stand.

of a 21,000 square foot, two-story historic brick theater built
in the 1800's. Structure includes an orchestra pit, 250 seat theater,
