Senior Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

A Senior Engineer shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural or structural engineering. Professional registration as a licensed Civil Engineer is required; a Structural Engineer license is preferred. A master’s degree is appreciated. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practice is required. Must have the ability and desire to learn project-engineering skills as well as be personable to maintain positive client relationships for ZFA.

A Senior Engineer is to meet the responsibilities of an Engineer in addition to being responsible for the successful management of projects. Senior Engineers are responsible for: the quality of structural engineering work performed, project profitability for structural engineering projects, high-quality client service, effective utilization of staff, maintenance of the positive reputation of the office and some marketing tasks. A Senior Engineer possesses the primary daily design and technical skills necessary to conduct work with a great degree of independence. A Senior Engineer also shows initiative in assisting with office- and firm-wide improvements.

Salary range:

$80,000 – $110,000

This range provides a reasonable estimate of the base salary that an applicant may be paid. Actual pay rates may vary from this range depending on various factors including education, experience, skills and location.

Exercise maturity and sound judgment in decision making, anticipate issues, solve project-related problems, communicate budget issues and forecast project resource needs

Technically and financially manage small- to medium-sized projects and larger complex projects

Maintain responsibility for all aspects of technical quality on project documents, project budget, schedule management and profitability in designing projects and construction administration

Mentor and supervise engineers at every level of experience

Lead a team of one or more design engineers for specific projects

Serve as an effective client-contact point for all project-related issues

Utilize timely communication to inform clients of the ongoing status of projects

Participate in and lead staff training as requested

Improve office- and firm-wide technical expertise, standards and efficiencies
