Josh Raney, SE

Associate

Josh’s passion for buildings and design began in his youth, spending time with his grandfather who was an architect living in a traditional Eichler home in the Bay Area. This passion found roots in structural engineering throughout his studies at Cal Poly and his career at ZFA, where he specializes in unique, high-end residential designs. As a leader in ZFA’s residential Design Studio, he has had the opportunity to mentor new engineers and develop operations systems to hone efficiency and improve communications.

Highlights:

    • Delivers “outside-the-box” solutions utilizing non-traditional engineering methods to maintain a solutions-oriented mindset
    • Prioritizes clear communication with all members of the design team to ensure client goals are coordinated and calibrated with the structural design
    • Provides leadership within ZFA’s operations group by identifying growth opportunities in standard processes

Josh understands that, ultimately, structural engineering is a service industry first and that client satisfaction will always take priority. He cherishes opportunities to reach beyond the minimum and provide additional value for the client and design team.

“To me, perfect structural engineering harmony exists in a narrow plane wedged between efficiency and intrigue.”
