ZFA provided structural engineering services for a 150-foot long bridge for Obsidian Way, a newly constructed road that connects Liberal Avenue to the Rolling Hills Casino and Resort property. The bridge was designed using prestressed precast voided slabs, which provided both construction cost and schedule benefits. Approach slabs were provided at each end of the bridge to accommodate settlements of the abutment backfill, to limit future maintenance to the approach roadway paving. The bridge was designed per Caltrans Standards.
The completion of Obsidian Way marked an important milestone for the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians, providing first responders with quicker access to the property in the event of an emergency.
