Intern

Minimum qualifications:

An Intern shall be at least a third year civil, architectural or structural engineering student; an EIT certificate is preferred. Knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles and practice is required. Revit/BIM experience is a plus. Must have the ability and desire to learn engineering skills, office etiquette and client management.

As an entry-level engineer, an Intern is responsible for basic structural-engineering tasks. Portions of projects may be assigned at first, and strong collaboration with more senior personnel will be expected to guide the Intern in learning ZFA standards and practices. An Intern is responsible for asking thoughtful questions and producing high-quality work. Active learning, listening and communication will develop an Intern’s technical and soft skills.

Entry Level Designer

Minimum qualifications:

A Designer shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural or structural engineering; an EIT certificate is preferred. A master’s degree is appreciated. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practice is required. Must have the ability and desire to learn project-engineering skills as well as be personable to maintain positive client relationships for ZFA.

As an entry-level engineer, a Designer is responsible for basic structural-engineering tasks. Smaller projects or portions of projects may be assigned at first, and strong collaboration with more senior personnel will be expected to guide the Designer in learning ZFA standards and practices. A Designer is responsible for asking thoughtful questions and producing high-quality work. Active learning, listening and communication will develop a Designer’s technical and soft skills.

Salary range:

$75,000 – $90,000

Senior Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

A Senior Engineer shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural or structural engineering. Professional registration as a licensed Civil Engineer is required; a Structural Engineer license is preferred. A master’s degree is appreciated. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practice is required. Must have the ability and desire to learn project-engineering skills as well as be personable to maintain positive client relationships for ZFA.

A Senior Engineer is to meet the responsibilities of an Engineer in addition to being responsible for the successful management of projects. Senior Engineers are responsible for: the quality of structural engineering work performed, project profitability for structural engineering projects, high-quality client service, effective utilization of staff, maintenance of the positive reputation of the office and some marketing tasks. A Senior Engineer possesses the primary daily design and technical skills necessary to conduct work with a great degree of independence. A Senior Engineer also shows initiative in assisting with office- and firm-wide improvements.

Salary range:

$95,000 – $115,000

Engineer

Minimum qualifications:

An Engineer shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil, architectural or structural engineering. Professional registration as a licensed Civil Engineer is desired but not required at this level, however intent to register is preferred. A master’s degree is appreciated. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practice is required. Must have the ability and desire to learn project-engineering skills as well as be personable to maintain positive client relationships for ZFA.

An Engineer is to meet the responsibilities of a Designer in addition to being independently responsible for: the quality of structural engineering work performed, informing project manager of budget issues and increases in scope of work, providing high-quality client service and maintaining the positive reputation of the office. An Engineer possesses the primary daily design and technical skills necessary to conduct work with a great degree of independence.

Salary range:

$80,000 – $105,000
